Virtual Paedophile Stock Market Predicted To Be Huge Success - May 10th 2004
Following the successes of virtual stock markets dealing in anything from Celebrities to Terrorist Attacks, Paedo-X-change, a new exchange where players trade information on Paedophiles, is expected to be a huge hit.
Paedo-X-change works on a similar principle to other virtual stock exchanges; players simply buy virtual shares in areas or events they believe are going to feature heavily in the news.
For example, if the South of France has had little activity recently but you sense two young girls might be abducted soon it would be a logical time to buy shares there. If your prediction was correct the prices in that area would then soar and you could sell them at a profit.
The idea has not been short of controversy with many parents concerned the website could incite paedophilic behaviour. The architect of the website Keith Wilson strongly refutes these claims:
“Many people have approached me claiming that some players might attempt to boost their shares in their recent purchase by causing that act to take place, either by performing it themselves or by arranging it to happen. However this idea is just plain nonsense.” He explained.
“I mean, take the Terror Exchange for instance. If I bought shares in an attack on the White House I am hardly going to hijack a plane and crash it into it just to make money on my shares am I? If I did buy shares in an abduction in my home town of King’s Lynn and all of a sudden a couple of kids go missing I’m sure that everyone would agree it was just an unfortunate coincidence.”
The idea has been seized upon by some Parent Associations as proof the Internet should be banned:
“With Paedophiles now able to make money on their offences by trading shares in them over the Internet as well as using the technology to groom their victims in advance I think it is about high time the Government realised that the Internet was the cause of Paedophilia and banned it.”
Mr Wilson, who is also developing a TV show ‘Who’s Stalking Me?’ – a show where teenage girls gets the chance to win a top of the range broadband PC with hi definition webcam by guessing which of the 4 people she is chatting to is Paedophile – was quick to point out the Parent’s misconceptions:
“You don’t actually make any money on it – that’s one of the biggest mistakes people make when they talk about this virtual exchanges, it’s all done for fun. I mean, if we actually made money on Paedo-X-change then I expect I’d be able to retire to a private desert island by the end of week 1.”
