Anyone who works in the EU will be familiar with the EU Cookie Law where websites have to declare if they are placing cookies on your computer when you visit their site.

I'm not sure where Google Analytics fits in to this though. Because Google Analytics' cookies is technically placed by Google. Also, there is a provision within the law that says cookies necessary for a website's operation don't need declaring, and while, yes, a website can function without seeing how someone browsed your site and where they came from, that information is essential for developers and marketing departments for future development of the website.

Incidentally, this website uses Google Analytics. So consider that your warning if you live in the European Union.
