One month in with the Surface Pro and it has become the primary device that I use for everything, not just for drawing this comic which was what I brought it for.

While it is not as good at being a PC as a laptop, it's good enough to do the majority of tasks I need to do on it (including every part of the comic)

The achilles heel of it is text input. While I did get a touch cover with it, when you are using it as a tablet having to reconfigure to a laptop-esque configuration is awkward.

However, all tablets suffer from this flaw, so it's not really a negative point. It's actually impressive that the Surface Pro can compete as closely as it does against ultrabooks.

I have found, in practice, I get around 6-7 hours of battery life from it while drawing my comic, which is quite processor intensive.

The biggest killer of the battery, though, is YouTube. YouTube drains the battery in about 4-5 hours. This is because of Flash. Flash is a battery killer and it is really frustrating that Google hasn't properly implemented HTML5 video on their desktop mode. Yes, you can opt in the "HTML5" player, but that "only works with compatible videos" which turns out to be a very limited selection. This is despite the fact that almost every video works on mobile devices, so they are all actually HTML5 compatible.

I am surprised how big a part the Surface has become in my gadget ecosystem, as I am now using it more than any single device prior to getting it. The iPad is relegated to the bedroom and is solely used for Internet browsing in bed. My laptop gets used almost exclusively at work. Between my phone and my Surface I pretty much cover 100% of my personal gadget usage.
