Returned Statue of Tony Blair not the One Stolen from Iraq

4th July 2003

The Iraqi people of Basra condemned the British for returning an incorrect statue following the theft of an 8ft Statue of Saddam Hussein, stolen by British Forces as a ‘trophy’ before coming home.

An apologetic Ministry of Defence apologised for the mistake claiming the soldiers must have packed the statue onboard the cargo plane at Basra International Airport instead of one of the cruise missiles they had been loading at the time.

Geoff Hoon immediately authorised an emergency flight to return the stolen statue, but when the covers came off the statue, the figure revealed was one of Tony Blair, standing triumphantly and looking thoughtfully towards the sky.

Despite their disappointment at the statue not being one of Saddam Hussein, the mob gathered to smash the statue decided not to waste their trip and soon turned the sculpture into a pile of twisted and broken metal. They then asked if the Americans could fly over one of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld as the Blair Bashing had been so much fun.

In other news, American Troops claim to have found evidence that Saddam Hussein has been developing weapons of mass destruction after uncovering a cruise missile at Basra International Airport.
