Random Perspective Doing Too Many ‘Kilroy’ Articles

13th January 2004

Random Perspective has been accused by watchdogs for doing too many articles concerning the former TV Presenter Robert Kilroy-Silk. The watchdog has held up accusations that the Webmaster is merely trying to capitalise on the wealth of traffic that linking newsgroups bring by continually posting articles relating to his future career following an article he wrote for the Sunday Express.

Ben Dickson, the webmaster of Random Perspective has defended his position stating:

“It is completely unfair that I have been accused of being greedy with the traffic. I may have done 3 - or is it 4 – articles about Kilroy but each of these has been about a completely different angle on the story.

“Besides which, there wasn’t much else in the news to make fun of. I did a piece on the US Air Force messing up their practice bombing raid in Yorkshire, and a piece on the Beckhams having sex but I just couldn’t escape from the hilarity of the Kilroy situation.”

The watchdog has upheld the complaints stating that the website has deliberately used keywords in the article to give it a high ranking in Google News.

Random Perspective denies using Robert Kilroy-Silk’s name as a keyword to deliberately increase its traffic rating saying that had that been it’s intention it would have used George Bush or Saddam Hussein or Iraq or Weapons of Mass Destruction or Howard Dead or Michael Howard or David Beckham or Howard Shipman or Mars or NASA or Spirit Rover.
