Business Booming for Danish Flag Maker

A Danish Flag making company in Copenhagen is reporting record profit margins, during a period in which the rest of the national economy has suffered a massive blow. With sales up nearly 500%, some production lines have been forced to run a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

“I've never seen anything quite like it,” Factory Manager Kiefer Wilson announced, “When I took over running this plant a year ago I wasn't really expecting it to go anywhere. It was just a stop-gap job whilst I tried to get my career back on track. But whatever I've done in those 12 months has certainly paid off – particularly in the last couple of weeks.”

The factory, which also produces national flags for other nations – such as the British Union Flag – said it was the first time the customer responsible for surge in production had ever requested the Danish Flag as they usually just placed bulk orders for the American Stars and Stripes. However, since adding the Danish Flag to their order they had done so in significant quantities.

Wilson was quick to comment on the peculiarity of the timing of the surge in orders – Denmark has recently taken a huge hit to its economy, with 200 people already made redundant and many more expected to follow over the next few weeks.

“I looked into it,” Wilson explained, “And it turns out that the customers requesting the huge orders for Danish Flags are all from the Middle East. Quite coincidentally it seems that a lack in trade with the Middle East is responsible for the general downturn in the economy. This makes even less sense.

“Having said that, they are a strange bunch of people over there... for some reason they asked if we could pre-dip all the flags we sent them in petrol, no idea why. But as they had placed such a large order I arranged it at no extra cost. Anything to help out such a loyal customer.”
