Back in the 20th century, Star Trek conventions were all the rage. Well, not amongst trendy people, but they were certainly all the rage amongst geeks and nerds.

Today, though, while Star Trek conventions still go on, geek chic has meant that Star Trek has begun to be shaded by an even bigger cult: Apple.

This year Apple's WWDC sold out of tickets within 2 minutes of tickets going on sale, so we wondered, is Apple's WWDC the Star Trek conventions for today's generation?
