US Apologises For Accidentally Dropping 2,500 Practice-Bombs on Iraq

12th January 2004

Following an incident in the United Kingdom where an F15 Fighter Pilot accidentally dropped one of his practice bombs on a small village in Yorkshire the United States has stated that the incident is more problematic than they first admitted:

“After the bomb had been dropped in England we apologised to the local community and the English Government and reassured them such incidents were rare so to prevent any major diplomatic incidents.

“But the fact is that we were somewhat economical with the truth. The fact is this was not the first occasion this has happened, or even the second. We regret to inform the Iraqi Government that during April and May of last year the US Air Force accidentally dropped 2,500 practice bombs on Iraq.”

He then went on to explain that their first concern was for the safety of the Iraqi population so they immediately rushed in 100,000 troops. Unfortunately these troops accidentally fired 3.7million practice bullets and 1,450 practice tank shells.

During their mission to recover the practice bombs, bullets and shells the US Troops came across many of Saddam Hussein’s chemical and biological weapons. There were however, several differences between the chemical weapons used by Saddam and the practice weapons employed by the US Troops:

“You see, where we were using live ammunition and live missiles for our practice attacks, Saddam Hussein’s actual chemical and biological weapons were imaginary. To be honest, had this been a real war our country’s international reputation would be in tatters. Thank god it was only a practice mission.”
