Amateur Movie Maker Plans Sequel - April 3rd 2003

An amateur moviemaker has decided that it is time to go back and ‘re-imagine’ his first work it was revealed today.

Keith Wilson, a man in his early 20s, has decided to revisit his first production, made in 1991 when he was barely 10 years old.

“The original was my take on the Star Trek universe. For its time it was pretty good but looking back there were mistakes I made.

“For instance, I picked my 6 year old twin sisters to play the two co starring roles and they didn’t seem interested in learning their lines. And they kept forgetting them the moment the camera rolled.

“The Camera work was another let down. I got my father, the most experienced man I could obtain, to do it. But he didn’t seem to be taking it seriously at all. There I was shooting my first major work of cinematography and all he went on about was how I ‘had to get it done in 15 minutes’ as he ‘had to be off somewhere’

“I know it was an amateur production but that was still not the professionalism I expected.”

The original work was extremely low budget and despite being based on Star Trek had no money for special effects or facilities for postproduction.

“Of course it’s easy to blame everyone else,” Keith Wilson continues, “But the fact of the matter is the person who made the most mistakes was me. I look back and realise I could do the whole thing a whole lot better this time.

“And that’s what I intend to do.”
