War with Iraq could destroy Ancient Artefacts - March 6th 2003

Saddam Hussein has claimed that if the US/UK forces begin a bombing campaign on Iraq they could risk destroying some of the most intriguing recent archaeological finds.

Amongst the relics claimed to be at risk are an ancient Nuclear Missile Silo (containing several ancient Nuclear Missiles), and ancient Chemical Warfare Development Site and the world’s first battery.

Whilst the battery, believed to be used by the ancient Babylonians for electrolysis, was discovered at the turn of the 20th century – the Nuclear Missile Silo and Chemical Warfare Development Site have been discovered since the Gulf War in 1991 by Iraqi archaeologists.

It is not known whether these were also made by the Ancient Babylonians however Iraq has said that if the US makes any attempt to destroy them they will be forced to activate the ancient Anti Aircraft Artillery and take Saddam Hussein to the ancient nuclear bomb proof bunker.

“The US accuses us of creating weapons of mass destruction and are intent on bombing all of our laboratories and military installations – however when we discover archaeological relics they seem intent on bombings those too!!”

The Iraqis also condemned any attempt for American Special Forces to attempt to assassinate Saddam Hussein. They are claiming that he is actually an ancient Babylonian who was mummified using a special ancient technique very similar to cryogenics. He was revived when Iraqi archaeologists discovered his tomb.

“If the Americans kill Saddam Hussein, they will be killing the World’s Oldest Person, the only remaining person of an extinct era, and the World’s most important archaeological find.”
